Dear oppa,

Oppa, Itaewon Class was the very first K-drama I ever saw. I’ve seen you in many other dramas after that, but to me you’ll always be Park Sae-Ro-Yi from Danbam. Nobody can rock the chestnut haircut like you can. He was someone I love, trust and identify with. Sae-Ro-Yi gave me hope, a new perspective for my own future and most of all he taught me that you should never give up. He saved me.

Sae-Ro-Yi made me believe in many things. He has proven that hard work and dedication is nothing short of a miracle. He’s also proven that you don’t need a degree to be successful. The pain he felt when he lost his father was undoubtedly something I felt when I lost my own father. Sae-Ro-Yi made me laugh and cry at the same time. I think he really deserved a standing ovation for standing up against what was wrong and not backing off regardless of the consequences.

Growing thick skin is necessary in our world and it’s a no-brainer that Sae-Ro-Yi proves it better than anyone. He taught me not to bow to him just because someone is rich, powerful, and oppressive. His courage inspires me to stand up for myself to this day. Oppa, whenever I see you on the screen I am intrigued but I can’t help but picture Sae-Ro-Yi every time, after all, he was the one who made me fall in love with you. I will definitely appreciate your outstanding acting skills.

I learned a lot from him, things that I will use in my life including being incredibly patient, quiet goings-on, teamwork, trust, love, hard work and most of all, commitment. Sae-Ro-Yi made me believe that after all, success can be the best revenge. He never let anyone undermine his potential. Just like him, the loss of my father was a turning point in my life. I may have started giving up until I found Sae-Ro-Yi. Life can be a roller coaster, but losing hope and giving up is not an option. Sae-Ro-Yi has proven that bullying and injustice will never overwhelm the truth. I want to be like him, I want to live my life on my own terms, on my own principles.

Thank you for playing a character I will cherish forever. Saranghae my dear oppa. I send you all the love from Bangladesh.

With best regards,
A hopeful 20 year old
Tahtheera Sultana.
