>> V.League 1-2021 will restart in mid-March
This was National Coach Park’s first working session since returning to Vietnam after a hometown vacation and completing the medical quarantine and investigation under COVID-19 prevention and control regulations. The meeting was attended by department heads of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), assistant coaches and the national team’s medical team.
As is known, most of the international tournaments in 2020 were postponed, canceled or postponed to 2021 due to the impact of the pandemic, which affected the plans of the national teams. However, with a proactive response to the development of COVID-19, the VFF has worked with its specialist departments and trainers to design and adapt plans aimed at successfully realizing the goals set. For example, last year national teams’ plans were adjusted to use domestic training camps to maintain the armed forces and professional evaluation in preparation for this year’s goals: to advance further in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and reach the final of the AFC U23 Championship 2022 and defend the AFF Suzuki Cup trophy and the gold medals in men’s and women’s football at the upcoming 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31).
For the second round of Asian qualification for the 2022 World Cup, the Asian Football Association (AFC) has officially announced the list of games, which have been postponed to June 2021. Next, based on the necessary pandemic prevention and control conditions and standards, the AFC will, following a centralized approach, select the most appropriate country to host the remaining Group G games. As planned, Vietnam will play Indonesia and Malaysia on June 7th and 11th before the Group G qualifying campaign concludes with a clash against the UAE on June 15th.
Park assessed such adjustments and said, “I am ready to prepare. First we will update our information on the Indonesian, Malaysian and UAE teams, then the weather conditions in the UAE, the country where the remaining Group G games are most likely to take place. I will also ask the VFF to choose a training location with the same weather conditions as the UAE and then we will prepare for real situations. “
“As far as I know, the order of the Group G games has changed. Vietnam plays first against Indonesia, then against Malaysia and finally against the UAE. There are some difficulties, but we will still be prepared for any situation, ”said the Korean tactician.
Park also announced that he will continue to hold daily meetings with his assistants for the upcoming period to discuss professional issues related to national team preparation, and assign staff to follow the V.League 1 games to keep track of performance by observing and evaluating the players as well as looking for new promising players for the national team.
V.League 1-2021 has received permission to restart from March 13th, which is considered very beneficial for the national team. This helps players maintain the density and intensity of the competition and get back in top form when the team gets back together.
